MS is often heralded by a single demyelinating event known as clinically isolated syndrome. Patients who present with CIS along with evidence of subclinical disease activity on MRI are at a higher risk of developing clinically definite MS than patients who have normal results on MRI. Early treatment with beta interferon has become a standard of care for these patients. This program will discuss the three interferon therapies approved for MS and the clinical trials that support their use following a single demyelinating event.
