A Patient-Centered Approach to the Treatment of Multiple Sclerosis (MS)Multiple sclerosis is a chronic disease that has effective treatments but no cure. Thus symptom management becomes critically important. A multimodal approach to MS symptom management can be effective in facilitating coordination of services and continuity of care, and avoiding duplication and fragmentation for the patient and family. This multimodal approach to MS symptom management uses effective communication, patient education, physical modalities and activities, occupational and other therapies, and pharmacologic interventions. |
